We Made You @ 8:15 PM
Hollywood is the land of fame and glamor. You either make it or you don’t, that’s the fact of life. As an aspiring young actress, I myself am still learning the tricks and trades of this industry. My goal is to become an actress for film and television because theater just isn’t my destiny, I know it. In the beginning I was hesitant. Hesitant to make a decision and choose the path I was going to take.
Both have their differences and it’s just the matter of which suits your needs more. I was reading a book called Acting Professionally written by Robert Cohen and I learned quite a bit from the man. I picked up on how camera acting was a lot more intensive, meaning fewer words, more face and less vocal training while, theater is the complete opposite. When on camera, it’s really the little things that count the most. The small sweep of your hair, the little look in your eyes or even your smile. The focus is always on those things because the devil really is in the details. Emotion is the key thing for an on-screen actor because it’s what adds depth and reality to a scene. It gives the audience a sense of purity and draws their own feelings from within.
A theater actor on the other hand cannot trigger the same emotions as a television or film actor. It’s just not as easy. When on stage, the actor’s facial expressions just become harder to read because of the vast theater. That’s why stage actors have to be really big in their actions and whatever else they do. Both are interesting to take on, it just matters who we are. Everyone has a destiny, whether it may be becoming a doctor, a police officer or teacher. Actors go through the same thing; they have to pick which field of acting they wish to pursue.
