If you think big and act big, there is no way you won’t be noticed. 

This Thursday I was given my first method acting assignment. Everyone in the Academy Class was assigned a role to play when we went to So You Think You Can Dance Canada. I was excited to play the diva makeup artist to one of the world’s biggest stars, “Mickey G”. This whole experience was a very interesting one, and I realized if you act like you’re big you will be treated like you are too.  At one point we cut through the line and made our way to the front, and, no one said a word to us because they thought we were literally famous. 

I carried this facade through most of the time we were there and enjoyed every minute. Normally I’m a nice person if you talk to me, so playing a rude diva was quite something. Every time I was yelling at someone I didn’t know, they looked scared and backed away. I felt the power flow within me. Like the world was at my fingertips. Although it was only a short period of time, by the end of it I knew I had taken another step towards becoming a bettor actor. I played a character completely different from me and I can say “Jasmine” is one of my back pocket characters now. She’s someone I know I can play pretty well when the time comes, and I hope I can play Jasmine again someday.
