Gift @ 4:33 PM
When life went left
all i could do is write
so i reached for my pen
and overdue foresight
For the years i spent hiding
from the reflection of mirrors
and the tears
and the tears
and the silent-squashed fears
If i looked to the ripples
for the pathway you carved
then I’d step from the boat
one foot, one soul starved
by decisions to eat
from the table of strife
instead of the table
you set with your life
You laid it all down
and you made it all clear:
the words from your pages
say redemption is near.
I look for a man
who can tell me it’s true
who can say
“this redemption is built for you, too.”
On the corner downtown
this man blends to brick
he’s holding a book
and he says “you must pick
which way you will go
now that you know the truth
despite the absence
of tangible proof.”
He shrugged and walked by
through an elevator sky
and redemption’s sparkle
just a wink in his eye...
Forgive and forget. That’s what I’ve grown up hearing. And sometimes that’s all we need to do. We need to learn how to forgive each other, we need to learn how to forget our past, forget the negativity. Because if we don’t, who will?
The Christmas season is one of the most festive days on the calendar. It’s a season full of excitement, love, family and warmth. Unfortunately not everyone has this luck. Not everyone has a family to go to, has someone waiting for them, has someone who loves them. If you look around you, you see all the smiling faces, the excitement of the holiday in their eyes. But sometimes it’s just all lies. Lies clouding the truth. Lies hiding the pain people go through during the holidays. It’s sad to see how hopeless some people look. I’m afraid for them and it’s not fair, but its fact. But this Christmas why not light up someone life? Why not fill it up with joy and make someone smile? After all the greatest gift of life, is the gift of giving.
